We have been in the process of weaning Lily from her best pal...the "paci". This has not been an easy task, but she has done fairly well with only limiting her need for it during bedtime and naps on weekends.
Recently, after a visit to Grandma and Papa's house, Grandma B. told me the following story about one of Lily's clever tactics in trying to get her "friend" back :)
"We had so much fun with Lily last night. She was in the cabinet where the plates, cups, diapers and pacifiers are...You've got it ...she spotted the PACI. She quickly grabbed it and said her "BABY" needed it. Grandpa said ok. Then she came over to me and said "Gandma, this will fit in my mouth" with her eyes real big and I said You aren't a baby are you, "No, but it will fit.....SEE" She put it in her mouth and sucked away....We laughed so hard then, she got rid of it and we hid it!!! She is such a hoot. I have not laughed that much since I don't know when. "
It looks as though our daughter is learning clever ways to get what she wants. I need to read up more on my "How to Con your Kid" book. I think I will be needing it!

Shirley Temple
We had a visit from Grandma L. this past weekend for a quick weekend trip. Lily had such a great time getting to spend quality time with Grandma. Lily has become very expressive in her words as well as facial expressions when she is communicating. We have been told that she acts very "grown up" for her age of 2.
Grandma had been trying to pinpoint who Lily reminded her of all weekend and finally discovered that it was Shirley Temple! They share a similar bob haircut as well as expressive personality. Here's a short video of one of Shirley's famous songs- Good Ship Lollipop:

Grandma pulled this up on youtube for Lily and I to see and Lily was glued to the computer screen! Looks like we need to go out to buy some Shirley Temple movies!
