Jackson, soccer player

Today was Jackson's first soccer class. Since he could speak, he has been obsessed with soccer. Of all the sports, this is the one he has talked about the most. He loves kicking the ball and running after it. We have been told he has good coordination for his age, so we decided it was time to get him started!

Near our house, there is an indoor league called "Dinomites" which is more of a class format teaching a variety of soccer and teamwork skills appropriate to his age group. It is only once a week, and no games. We thought this would be a great way for Jackson to learn some skills without having to "herd" down the field to compete for the ball.

He had a great first class!  The session had already started when we enrolled him, so he had to jump right in and catch up with the routine.  He did a great job listening to the coach and following instruction!  There was only one mishap in which he collided heads sideways with another boy as they were racing to jump over the same noodle during a game.  It was so quick that their collision looked like a firework exploding!  After colliding they both flew to opposite sides!  It was a sad five minutes...and then both boys were back to running again!  Kids are so resilient.

He is already asking about his next class...which means I get to hear for the next six days, "can I go to soccer today?" :)

the class started off with "catch the tail"
getting ready....
and he's off!
practicing toe taps
head on ball!  haha
waiting for the next instruction. I love how the coach had them all kneel.

Here's a short video of one of his drills.  He was hilarious to watch!  So serious and fired up!
