Lily reads to Sadie

Let me set the stage for this one.....
Lily brought Sadie her green bone and sat down with her book and just started talking to Sadie.
This really is a rare event as Lily and Sadie don't exactly have a "buddy" relationship. More like Sadie would rather Lily leave her alone, and Lily would like to have a playmate.
So....I quickly grabbed my camera while Lily started reading to Sadie. I think Sadie enjoyed it! :-)
So sweet....

Great Wolf Lodge with the Stewarts

Last Saturday, we headed out for a night at the Great Wolf Lodge. This hotel is any child's dream! They have an indoor water park, outdoor pool area, arcade, even a kid's day spa! We just stuck to the water park, but still...it was amazing. Lily loved it and had the best time hanging out with Holly and Wyatt.

Wyatt and Lily are only a few weeks apart in age and it was so cute to watch them walk from the bottom of the water slide to the top...up the stairs...holding hands. They are such good friends.

Aunt Sarah came out to spend some time in the waterpark with us and also had a chance to go on some of the "big kid" rides. I forgot how much fun it was to ride on those fast water rides. It was great to be a kid again....

The girls did some shopping at the Legends while the boys went to Cabela's and we had dinner at Cheeseburger in Paradise. Both Wyatt and Lily fell asleep during dinner. They were pooped!

What a fun-filled day at the Great Wolf Lodge and a great way to end the summer!

What a Blast!!

That's all I can say about our recent trip to CA...What a Blast!

We started off with 3 full days at Leo Carrillo Beach in Malibu- one of my most favorite memories as a kid...beach camping! Our family has been going with our Bradish Ave. neighbors since 1988 so it was great to see Lily experience this "officially" for her first time (the last time she was there was in my womb :) Lily had a blast with all the kids and it was great to see the neighbors I grew up with...with their kids! I hope we continue this tradition on for many years to come.
Thankfully, Lily shares my love for the beach and sand. I was a bit fearful because last summer at St. John she was not quite sure of the texture of the sand. But...no fear...she's a beach baby!

I had a parenting learning experience this camping trip. Lily is now potty trained, however she is still young enough where when she says she has to "go", she has to "GO!" The campground had two restrooms that were fairly near our campsite, but not near enough. Needless to say, we had a couple of accidents and Mommy was not too happy. Carrying a half-dressed child with wet pants back to the campsite was not fun, but I had to remind myself...she's 2 1/2, cut her a break! :-) I will be remembering this for next time around though...porta-potty for sure!

Also, funny quote for the week: Lily was having a conversation with Grandma and Aunt Sarah and Grandma said "Are you a princess Lily?" and she replied "No, I'm not a princess...I'm a piece of work!"
Hilarious! You can thank her daddy for that!

For the remainder of the week, we headed up to Uncle Doug and Aunt Liz's beautiful new home on Lake Millerton. Justin headed up a day early and visited King's Canyon, then as a family we spent a day on the "Party Barge" and headed up the last day to Yosemite National Park.
Phew! It was a busy trip, but oh so much fun! Lily was such a trooper, as usual. She just blends right in and goes with the flow. We couldn't ask for anything more.
Another great time with family and friends on the West Coast!
