Easter 2014

We celebrated another Easter with church and family fun! We had beautiful weather all weekend and took in all the beauty that Spring and new life brings.
Here's a walk through our holiday fun in pictures...
Easter cuties! (outfits courtesy of Grandma L.) Our church held 6 services this year, with three on Saturday. We opted for a Saturday service and it was a lot less hectic getting out the door this year!
Coming home from Jackson's preschool celebration
Favorite tradition...making Resurrection Buns. Even the following day Jackson was reciting the events leading to Jesus' death on the cross. So important for us to remember His sacrifice.

Easter eggs!
Easter baskets Sunday morning!
Wearing his loot :)
Easter cousins in their pretty dresses at Aunt Mary's
Ready for the egg hunt!

And they're off!
The crew
We had quite the wild bunch :)
And Grandpa surprised the kids with a new sandbox playhouse!! As I type, I am sitting in the sandbox watching them play. They are loving it!

Spring break

Last Friday marked the beginning of Lily's long-weekend "spring break". With all of the snow we have had this year, the district opted to shave off some days of spring break so the kids will still get out before June. Good plan, if you ask me! We love our summer!

Anyhow, I wanted to still fit in some fun for the occasion so the three of us went on little outings. I tried to keep as much of it a surprise as I could to add to the excitement. :)
(Daddy was out of town so he missed out on the fun.)

First up...the movies! Mr. Peabody and Sherman. Kids loved it. Apparently this is Jackson's new selfie pose. Goofball!
Pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream for breakfast!
Saturday was a little windy but a nice day for a bike ride
Jackson got a new big boy bike! He loves it and is already riding like a pro!
And we now have a 2-wheeler!! This was Lily's first bike ride out of the driveway without training wheels and she did so well! So proud of her determination!
Water break :)
With all of that exercise, we had to go to Culver's :)
I love this pic of my sweet babies.

And who goes to Culver's and doesn't get frozen custard?! Not this fam!
Jackson teased me that he didn't think he would finish this on his own and may need "help". When I tried to dip my spoon in his custard, he flipped! "No Mom! It's my ice cream!" That stinker literally licked the bowl clean!! He is my son :)
Now this one was happy to share :) She's always my sweetie.
Saturday night was a family worship night at church called X-Cite. It was a beach theme so these were their outfits of choice. Jackson was so excited to wear his new Spider-man swim trunks and shirt! (Thanks Grandma L.!) He's perfecting his "web shooting" pose.
Lily and friend Georgia at church
I tried a new smoothie recipe and it was a huge hit! Peanut butter-oatmeal-banana...yummy!
Monday, we met up with Hilary and Maria for a zoo day!
The kids had a great time and were exhausted when we left
And....we wrapped up the fun with a new haircut for Lily. She is into short styles now and kept saying, "Mom, I look like Rapunzel after her hair was cut short!" A princess cut for my princess!

As we were driving home from her haircut, she said "Mom, this was the best spring break ever!" She loves her quality time and we sure had our fill of it these past four days! Such fun making memories.

Preschool field trip to the airport!

Last Thursday, Jackson's preschool class took a field trip to the Grain Valley Airport.  His class has been learning all about the different types of transportation, so this was a perfect trip to tie together all they have learned.
When we arrived, the manager of the airport gave a little presentation with a model airplane and explained all of the parts and their purpose. When he asked for questions, Jackson of course raised his hand numerous times.  He didn't necessarily have questions...he just had comments!  He was one of two children who actually rose their hand. It goes without saying that this boy was in heaven!

A little funny before we arrived...as I was telling Jackson where we were going, he was adamant that he needed to bring his "Rollie bag" with him because he was going on an airplane!! He did not understand that we were not actually flying on the airplane, but just sitting in one to check it out. This was a huge disappointment for him. He has been talking about wanting to go back to California lately, so he must have figured this was his chance! We are raising some little travelers! :)

Enjoy some fun pictures of his visit with the planes...

He decided to go through the catalog and pick out some possible purchases :)
