Lily's art on display!

Last week, we received a letter from Lily's art teacher that a piece of her artwork was chosen to be on display at the Englewood Art District for the art walk and Mystic Pumpkin Festival!
Lily was one of 17 students whose artwork was selected from Blackburn Elementary, so it was a great honor.
She really enjoys drawing and exploring her creativity.  Daddy and I have been surprised by how well her skill is developing.
This is her depiction of the playground.

Jackson's Preschool field trip to the pumpkin patch!

Last Thursday, Jackson had his first Preschool field trip to Faulkner's pumpkin patch!
We had a "scarecrow" tour guide who took us on a hayride, through the petting zoo, in a corn maze, and lastly, in the patch to pick out a pumpkin to take home!
What a fun day with his preschool friends!

Sweet Jackson

This afternoon as I was tucking Jackson in for a nap, He and I had this little conversation:

"Mom, when I take a nap, are you going to go sit in your chair and do your Bible study?"

With a smile I replied, "Not today Jack. Do you know why Mom does her Bible study?"

"Why?"

"So I can listen to Jesus tell me how to be a better mom."

"When I get older, I want to be a mom."

"Well honey, you will be a daddy when you get older..not a mom."

"No, I want to be a good mom, just like you."

I sure love that boy. These conversations are priceless to me.

Jackson's sports party!

Jackson loves all sports and consistently tells us that he is going to play them ALL "when he gets older".  So, what better theme for his 3rd birthday party than a sports party?!!
We decided to have the party at home and set up a variety of sports-related activities for the kids.  We set up soccer goals, a tether ball set, and even had a game with balloons and pool noodles that didn't go exactly as planned...but the kids had a blast anyway.  Our neighbors just happened to have a small bounce house which they allowed us to borrow for the occasion.  We finished off the fun with a soccer ball pinata!  The weather was perfect to be outdoors, and Jackson loved having his family and friends over to celebrate!

Enjoy some pictures of the day:

bounce house fun
this is not fun & games, people :)
what was to be a "try to get the balloon into the basket" game, turned into "pop as many balloons as you can" game.  it lasted all of 3 seconds.  they sure had fun though! :)
the gang's (almost) all here!
pinata time!  I planned poorly and didn't put as many layers on it this year.  unfortunately, all of the kids did not get a turn before it broke :(
