Easter 2012

Easter. The foundation of our Faith. Between all of our fun traditional activities, I try to emphasize the teachable ones as well (i.e. Resurrection Buns). I hope to incorporate more of those in the future as the kids are growing, learning, and understanding more.

We had a wonderful time with family on Easter Sunday. And, as always, there was a lot of food...and sweets :). The kids are still coming down from the sugar high!

I tried using Koolaid this year (thank you, Pinterest!) and it worked really well!
This was one of the main reasons I decided to use it....

I knew all he would do was put either the spoon or egg in his mouth! And I was right! :)

A couple of years ago, we started making Resurrection Buns to teach the kids about the meaning of Easter. Lily loves this activity and was begging me every day, "Can we make the Resurrection Buns today?" Jackson had a great time playing with the dough...and eating the marshmallows!

Easter morning!

We started the morning off with a small egg hunt in our living room...

And, as was tradition in my Mom's house, the "Easter Bunny" hid the kids' baskets.

Jackson figured out how to open the eggs right away and found a piece of chocolate inside. He immediately unwrapped it and popped it in his mouth before Daddy or I could stop him! This was the result:
And yes, it was 6:30am! Hey, it's Easter! :)

Easter morning was a busier morning than usual this year (if there is such a thing!). Daddy and I were both scheduled to serve at church so Daddy had to leave the house at 7:15am, which left Mommy to get the kids ready and out the door. It was crazy, but we somehow managed to get to church by 8:00am!

I serve in Jackson's toddler classroom at church. This highchair is the coolest thing and we love singing and teaching the kids while they are snacking away!

After church, we headed to Easter dinner at Grandma & Grandpa Bolinger's house.
The extended family was also there, and a huge egg hunt was set up for the kids. What fun we all had!

This is what Jackson handed me after I asked what was in his mouth. Notice the nicely defined teeth marks. I so have to keep my eye on that boy!

We sure had a great Easter and are looking forward to sharing more fun next year!
