The Day of Salvation

I want today to be etched in my memory because today is the day my son accepted Jesus into his heart. No greater joy than knowing my household will all be in heaven together one day! Praise be to God!

Leading up to this day have been lots of conversations, church, and BSF lessons. And of course, God has been orchestrating each of those moments to lead up to this day. In BSF this year, we have been studying the book of Revelation. This book in itself prompts lots of questions about where we are going when we die. I'm amazed at what Jackson has been able to absorb and process in his 5-year-old brain!

So today, as we are approaching the last chapter of Revelation, we discussed the Holy City on our drive home from BSF. I always ask him questions about what he learned.  Sometimes his memory is almost verbatim what is written in Scripture, and sometimes he is totally lost (aren't we all at times?). Today was different though. In discussing the Holy City, we started talking about how different life in heaven will be compared to here on earth. And then Jackson mentioned something about "trusting in God". He has recited prayers and talked about God but never has he used the words "trust in God". So I talked to him more about what that meant to him. Through this conversation, he decided he wanted to pray to ask Jesus to live in his heart. Since I was driving, we agreed we would wait until we got home. Once we got home, I discussed more about what it means to be a sinner, why we need Jesus in our lives, and what his death on the cross means for us. Not wanting him to make this decision to please his Dad or I or out of pressure, I even gave him a choice to wait. But he had made his decision and wanted to pray. So we did.

This has been and continues to be my daily prayer. That my entire family will chose to follow Christ. I'm just amazed how God answers in His perfect timing. He gives us a freedom of choice and I'm praising Him that Jackson made his choice to live for Christ.

"Those who belong to Christ Jesus are no longer under God’s judgment. Because of what Christ Jesus has done, you are free. You are now controlled by the law of the Holy Spirit who gives you life. The law of the Spirit frees you from the law of sin that brings death." Romans 8:1-2 NIRV
