Beach house trip- July 2016

Last July, we set out for our annual beach house trip to CA. Sadly, Daddy had to stay home again to work and we missed making these memories with him.
When we landed in LAX, the above picture was in my message box. This set the stage for one crazy time! Ha!

No sooner were we home to Grandma & Grandpa's and Lily was reunited with her buddies, Emily & Brooklynne. It still amazes me that Liz, Katie, and I have girls who are becoming great pen pals :)

First stop, Toppers Pizza! Our annual go-to pizza place in Channel Islands
We finally got down to the ocean and immediately, the kiddos ran in fully-clothed.
And this sandy, wet, cranky mess is always what follows
Day 1 at the beach- freshly sunscreened and ready to go!
Watching Uncle Phil wait for a wave
Uncle Bill captured the kids' attention with his ukulele. He sang a song about a fly "doo-dooing" on everyone in a grocery store and to this day, Jackson still sings it and giggles. It was right up their alley.
Evening time was movie time. After a long day at the beach, chill time was necessary.
Since Daddy was not there, I had to stand in on "sand dollar hunting" duty. Sadly, we did not have good luck this year :(
Grandma joined us one morning
the hat ladies
The older sibs were supposed to have a sand castle building contest. As you can see, there was no competition. Why mess with greatness? :) Way to go, Sarah!
Morning cartoons
Sam and Lily went on a morning run/walk with me and we found this cool fence
This rock is super high and of course all the boys had to climb it with Uncle Phil! Ah!
We spent a day at Leo Carrillo Beach with our friends and Lily was reunited with Emily and Brooklynne
So much fun!

I had to get a picture of Lily and her "flipper" as Grandpa called it. Although she had a waterproof cast, we were advised not to get sand or ocean water in it. So, this was my miracle solution. It worked great the whole week and Lily had no problems body boarding or building sand castles with it. Yay!

What a fun week! Looking forward to next year...including Daddy!
